New PR

Well i know i said my next race wasnt until labor day, but my bff kate found a race with cash prizes this past saturday and i had to give it a go! I was first female in the 5k and ran a two second pr of 18:18, still think i can come close to breaking 18 on the right course. Saturdays course was flat and pretty fast it just had a lot of sharp turns, which i would like to say slowed me up a bit maybe 10 seconds or so. Dad was suppose to race but got sick so that sucked because i was going to try and let hime pace me at a 18:00 5k, maybe on labor day! That will be my next race, looking forward to it and hoping it is a fast course. Oh yeah i did end up walking away with 125 cash in my pocket after the race, not too bad for 18 min of work:) until next time...keep it real!

second track session under my belt

In the spirit of talking about running i thought it necessary to post a running photo, however i dont have one of me so here is maddy!
Today was the second and final track session of the week for me. I put in 6x600 with two minute rest with a goal to keep them all at 2:00 or better. I was successful with this as i went 1:58, 1:59, 1:58, 1:58, 1:58 and 1:57 a little tougher however as i thought it would be. Other than that nothing esle going on just busy watching kids and well thats it. Maddyn got to spend the day with oma today which was good for her and for me!:) until next time...keep it real.

Great workout!

Well after a week away from the track, due to a couple races i ran in last week, I found myself back at it today for a tough workout. I took yesterday off completely and got back into my training today with 5x1000 meter repeats with two minute rest. Legs still felt a little sore and tired but surprisingly i had a great workout, one of my best this summer. I ended the track session running 3:33, 3:30, 3:29, 3:29 and 3:25. I am looking forward to running a fresh 5k here in a couple of weeks, based on my training i think i could run a pr in the 5k. Next up will be on labor day when i run the cu kickoff 5k.
Maddyn also put in an intense workout running sprints and ending with a full lap around the track with no stopping...she will also take part in the cu kickoff when she runs in the little kids track meet. She loves to run and has a smile on her face the entire time she must have the crazy running gene in her! well thats it for now unitl next time...keep it real!

not too shabby

well the pearl street mile came and went and i can say i am pretty pleased with my results. I ran a 5:10.6 so not too bad. I wanted to run 5:10 or better so i guess that is close enough. One thing i will brag about is that after 27 years i have finally beat my dad!!! This is the first time i have beaten my dad in a race in my entire life and I am pretty pumped about that. However we were in two different races so if he was in the same race as me I know he would have been kicking as hard as he could to catch my ass:) My little girl maddy ran the kids 800 meters. What a stud she ran the entire way and finished first out of all three year old girls and second overall in the three year old division losing by only two seconds. She ran a 5:35 which for a girl her age is awesome I couldnt be prouder, the best part was she was all smiles during the race, waving to oma and papa! Well that wraps it up till next time...keep it real!

pearl street mile

Well today marks the third and final race of the boulder race series...the pearl street mile. I have been training hard this summer and have found that in the last race it is starting to show. The west end 3k I pr'd by nearly twenty seconds. I am in second overall in the race series and must beat the first place girl by 14 seconds tonight if i want to win the series. This is most likely not going to happen as she is a very talented runner and would have to have a catastrophic race for me to beat her by that much. My goal is to go out and run a great race and hopefully break 5:10. and finish the series in second which would bring in some extra dough for me! Wish me luck.! I will let you know how it goes shortly till then keep it real!
